The Pitch, the CIM’s nationwide marketing competition for students is designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future. First organised by members of CIM in Lancashire to help students pass their famous ‘case study’ exam, the competition is now well into its third decade and continues to inspire and assist young marketers.
The northern universities with shortlisted teams going to CIMs’ Head Quarters in Berkshire on 15 March are:
University of Central Lancashire, who are no strangers to the competition, having taken part most years it has run and who have won many times in the past.
University of Huddersfield, who famously won the first time they entered back in 2012.
University of Hull, who also won the first time they entered in 2016.
University of Sheffield, who are through for the first time.
Diane Earles, Network Manager for CIM in the North, said “This is an amazing achievement for all four universities, showing that we have great marketing talent in the Northern Powerhouse universities. We wish all the teams well, but of course would love to see the accolade return to the North.”
This years’ brief has been supplied by Wilkinson Sword, a brand owned by Edgewell Personal Care for razors and other personal care products sold in Europe. It was founded in London in 1772 by Henry Nock as a manufacturer of swords, made in Shotley Bridge in County Durham in the North East. They have asked The Pitch teams how they can create a step change in their recruitment of young men and women into their shaving range and build a band of advocates.
